It's a very good app for learning Korean. The use of genders and having a distinctly American voice for prompts and narration works very well up until lesson 28 of level 1. There's a point when the American keeps saying, "Time" in conjunction with the Korean speaker, but it's not clear why he's saying it. My guess is that his part is supposed to be part of her explanation, but if that's so, then they should have had the Korean saying, "Time" instead. Other than that, so far so good.

Although the application is very glitchy, the actual program is really quite good. I have thoroughly enjoyed using pimsleur and will continue to do so. One thing I would like to see is a vocabulary list for every single lesson instead of many little lists (survival skills, shopping etc) which are slowly added to throughout each unit.

I was interested in an app that would allow me to practice my German. To the question "How much German do you know" I answered "a lot". The app then forced me to start at lesson 1 anyway, impossible to get ANY other lesson without paying. I tried the "challenge" mode where you have to speak into your microphone. The AI did pick up what I was saying, but some translations are bad: for example, for "I understand English" the expected translation was "Ich verstehe". As if "English" was extra... :(

Hi Marie, I’m sorry for the frustration. The placement can’t skip to higher lessons without a subscription, and the challenge mode may show translation errors like the one you found. If you have suggestiong support team at pimsleur@simonandschuster.com. We are always looking to help our users.
